The Michigan State University Standards for Construction have been compiled for Architects and Engineers retained to provide professional services for MSU. They reflect the planning, construction and maintenance experience of persons responsible for the University facilities.
These standards for design and construction of buildings at MSU have been prepared so that quality structures of maximum utility are constructed, thereby requiring minimal maintenance and operating expense, and prudent use of energy.
Adherence to these Construction Standards is required. Deviations must be reviewed with the University's Design Representative; an equal or improved concept, method, or production will be given full consideration.
Sections of the Standards for Construction will be revised and updated as experience of construction developments warrant. Each revised section supersedes all previous editions and directives concerning construction practices for Michigan State University.
